** NEWLAND BRIDGE WORKS: OPEN AFTERNOON **
MONDAY 15th JUNE 2015 between 2pm and 6pm at Snaith Town Council Office

Snaith & Cowick Town Council are aware that many residents are expressing concern that they know very little on the proposed major works to the Newland Bridge, which will close the A645 Drax Road for the duration of the project. Locally, this will impact on the level of traffic we currently see through the town.

To ensure as many people are aware of this project as possible, representatives from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be at the Snaith & cowick Town Council office on the afternoon of MONDAY 15TH JUNE 2015, to provide up-to-date information on the project, and answer any queries and concerns residents may have.

It has also been confirmed that the ERYC are preparing a leaflet outlining the proposals, which will be delivered to properties in the area.

Diversion routes for HGV and non-local traffic have been planned, primarily using the A19 from Junction 34 of the M62 up to Selby and the A1041, but Snaith and the surrounding villages will see an increase in local traffic as a result of this closure. Temporary traffic signals will be positioned at the Plough Roundabout in Snaith, and Market Place will made a one-way street, with access only from Selby Road. These three-way traffic signals are required to aid the flow of traffic and the one-way proposal for Market Place will improve safety at the signal-controlled junction.
