HGVs and Speeding Traffic in Snaith

The Town Council held a closed meeting with representatives from local haulage companies and businesses on 12th November 2014, to discuss issues such as the level of HGV traffic currently using the A1041 and A645 through Snaith and Cowick, along with speeding and dangerous driving concerns and the level of night-time driving.

The Town Council asked the haulage companies and businesses if they could try to help resolve the problems or at least minimise the impact to residents living close to the roads. Those attending the meeting were provided with in-depth information regarding numbers and times of HGVs passing through Snaith and Cowick, and were advised of residents concerns. Two companies who attended stated that they have policies in place with their haulage contractors and subcontractors to comply with routes stipulated within their contracts and that those routes should not affect Snaith and Cowick. It was thus agreed that any information presented to them would be reviewed and action taken if necessary.

Since this meeting it has already been noted that there has been a reduction in the level of night-time HGV traffic through Snaith, but we do ask for residents support in the continued monitoring of HGV traffic through the town. We strongly believe that by working together, traffic issues can be improved in and around Snaith & Cowick.

Please complete the feedback sheet below should you wish to report an issue with HGVs and we will foward this information on to the relevant party. All personal information provided will be treated as confidential.
