*****SUPPORTING THE RECOVERY & CLEAN UP FOLLOWING THE FLOODING OF SNAITH AND COWICK *****

The Town Council has been tasked with coordinating the Recovery stage of Snaith and East Cowick after the flooding, which has affected so many people within our community.

We recently met with T2T and Team Rubicon UK, who are specialists in Disaster Recovery and who are keen to assist in any way they can. They are currently supporting a number of residents who have been identified as needing support due to various issues such as lack of insurance and vulnerability. These teams have already been very busy over the last few days supporting these residents but we NEED to know if anyone else requires support. We also have a number of businesses who will be receiving help from both these groups as soon as their properties are safe to return to.

We have been overwhelmed with the response from people near and far wishing to support the community recovering from the floods. We can confirm we are also working closely with Rotary who have vast experience is flood disaster and they have agreed to support the Town Council with the voluntary side of this recovery phase. If you would like to formally volunteer to support the clean up operations, please contact the Town Council on 01405 862663 and we will let you know where help is needed. Local resident Phil Megson, who organised a volunteering group at the weekend, is also supporting and working closely with the Town Council on this coordination and we offer our sincere thanks to Phil for his help.

Today we have met with all the local Charitable and Community Groups who have provided such invaluable support to the parish over the last 2 weeks to try and gauge what impact it has had on their future plans and activities. We have assured them we are committed to helping them in any way possible. The organisations that attended the meeting were Snaith Community Sports Hall, Snaith Priory, Snaith Methodist Church, East Cowick Village Hall and West Cowick Institute.

We also have a list of businesses who have offered support to residents affected by the flooding, to offer services and support with such things as the provision of dehumidifiers, mini diggers, skips, amongst many other items. Vast amounts of cleaning products are also available to anyone affected. If you need anything, please get in touch and we will try to help.

We have also met with the Red Cross and if anyone is struggling with the psychological impact of the flooding please let us know and we will help you find the support you need.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council are also continuing to support people affected by the flooding, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your local Town Council on 01405 862663.

We know Snaith and East Cowick are not the only places to be flooded in our area and we are now supporting other local parish councils who have asked for support.

Snaith and Cowick Town Council would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who has supported our community during this crisis; the response we have seen has been overwhelming.****
