Snaith & East Cowick Flood Report
Snaith & Cowick Town Council’s Report into the Flooding of February 2020
As some of you will have already noted, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council will soon be releasing their Interim Report of the Section 19 Flood Enquiry, which took place following the devastating floods in Snaith and East Cowick in February 2020. This is only an Interim Report, with investigations still on-going. A Final Report will be produced and published once these investigations have been completed.
As part of this Enquiry, Snaith & Cowick Town Council produced its own report of the flooding event, which includes information and photographs from Councillors, Council staff and members of the public. It also raises questions about the initial emergency response and challenges the Enquiry to clearly identify what impact any actions upstream of the Lower Aire Washlands had on the volume of water we received.
This report was submitted to the Enquiry a few months ago via the e-mail address provided by the ERYC. We have recently learned that this e-mail has not been monitored for quite some time. We would therefore ask residents who submitted any information to the Flood Enquiry via the e-mail address flooding.information@eastriding.gov.uk to check that they received an acknowledgement of their submission and if not, to contact the ERYC on 01482 393939.
Due to above issue, the ERYC have apologised that the content of our report will not be included within this Interim Report. It will, however, be taking into account for the Final Report. In response to this, members of the Town Council agreed that our report should be made public now so that our residents can see what we submitted on their behalf.
