Monk Fryston Tour de Yorkshire Poster

On Saturday 30 April, Monk Fryston and Hillam are hosting a day full of activities to celebrate the two Tour de Yorkshire cycle races that will be passing through our villages. Why not join us for all or part of the day for what will be a real community event for everyone to enjoy.

•  Family-friendly cycle activities

•  Kids’ entertainment
•  Beer festival
•  Live big-screen TV to follow the whole day’s action

•  Live music

•  Land art installations and property decoration

•  Craft stalls
•  Vintage bike display

Monk Fryston’s legendary Beer Festival will be serving only the best local brews, including some cycling specials. As well as craft stalls and music, from Yorkshire brass bands to local rock and pop, there will be lots to entertain and enjoy all day long – much of it free. Take a look at the amazing land art designed by the local school children, St Wilfrid’s church specially dressed for the occasion or the art exhibition as well as a collection of rare vintage bikes. Try your hand at the cycling skills course and learn about cycle safety. It will be a real festival of Yorkshire, beer and bikes.

With some great twists and turns, both Monk Fryston and Hillam offer some fabulous spots to view the races. Join us for breakfast from 9am to watch the women’s race (featuring Otley’s own world champion Lizzie Armitstead) followed by cycling activities, Le Tour caravan and the men’s race in the afternoon. Free car parking and cycle parking will be available all day. For more information, including how to register for the cycle activities, visit www.mfhcc.com.
